is a dedicated gpu necessary for eng?

ive been thinking about laptops for eng, but ive been seeing a lot of conflicting info about gpus. the smith eng site says that a dedicated nvidia or amd gpu is required, but a lot of the laptops ive seen others recommend, like the dell xps and most actually affordable thinkpads, seem to have integrated graphics?

i want to get a laptop that will last the full 4/5 years, so i really dont want to cheap out and then regret it. any advice is appreciated
