How to stop a binge?
Hey guys, how’s everyone doing?
So here’s a timeline for context:
I had ten months of sobriety, then after a break up I relapsed and went on a 6 month binge. It was incredibly hard to stop and only really was able to stop by an experience I had with god (sort of a Bill W white light moment call me crazy but yes it happened) and following that I had 2 months of sobriety.
I had a relapse and now I’ve been stuck in relapsing for two months.
I’m feeling like how I did during the six month binge where no matter what I did it just wasn’t working. I can go to two meetings a day, make a dozen calls, do a gratitude list, step ten, self care, working out etc but it seems like the obsession just won’t lift. I’ve lost my job, about to lose my apartment and move back in with family. Shit has been terrible.
I’ve started lexapro a week ago and that is helping a lot, and I started naltrexone tonight as a last ditch effort.
I am on a waitlist for two rehabs, they aren’t sex addiction focused but I figured maybe it’ll be helpful to be plucked out of society and basically forced to stop. They also have trauma counselors which will be helpful as I also have cptsd.
That being said, I really don’t want to go.
Is there anything else I can do? I’m hoping the naltrexone works.
Sometimes it seems my approach to working the program is a bit compulsive, almost like I can’t sit still unless I’m doing some type of program activity and like I’m using it to shove feelings down. Is there a different, better, more healthier way? I’ve tried doing less program actions and more sitting with feelings but same results basically.
Any help or
Words of wisdom is appreciated. Thanks.
