I know I can't shut up about it, and I know it's a skill issue
But every time I get fucking styled on by a nigh-unblockable thumb grip combo from the AI that it has to exert no effort to use, whatsoever, I hate the thumb grip as-is a little more.
IRL zwerchhau is a pretty small, intuitive motion. A snappy, almost fully-lateral (as in no loopy up-down bullshit) motion.
In Half Sword, it's a mousepad-crossing exercise with way too many simultaneous inputs to track.
It should be a little flick, at most. But it's not. It's too much, that has to happen too quickly, and none of it is intuitive to how the (my) brain or hands want to move the mouse.
It also hurts the fuck out of my wrist to do with any frequency.
I've almost given up on making it work in the context of the game, and just pretty much gone back to demo-grade simple cuts and thrusts to make up the difference. If any part of the overly-complex series of actions needed to pull it off in-game is even slightly off, you'd have been better retreating or doing really anything else, because it won't land right, and it will put you in a bad position.
Again, sorry to keep banging on about this, it's just kind of ruining the game for me.
