I started making travel memory books, and people wanted something more personal than photos on a phone

I started a small business creating travel memory albums after noticing how many people took hundreds of vacation photos but rarely looked at them again.

The idea came when I made a handmade album for my own family trip. I added pictures, small notes, ticket copies, restaurant cards, and little details from the journey. Everyone who saw it loved how it brought the trip back to life.

When I started offering this service, I thought people would mainly want fancy designs and decorations. I spent a lot of time creating complicated layouts, but customers were more interested in simple things like their favorite photos, funny travel moments, handwritten messages, and little memories they almost forgot about.

At first, I was not sure if many people would be interested. Then I decided to try advertising my service through Adwave and share examples of my work. That was when I realized how many people loved the idea. Many parents wanted albums to save their kids' photos, family vacation memories, school trips, and special moments that were sitting on their phones.

I started creating albums for family vacations, anniversaries, road trips, and celebrations. Every album became different because every family had their own story.

I also tried a small local promotion while sharing my designs, which helped more people discover my custom album service. The biggest surprise was realizing I was not just making books. I was helping people keep memories they might have forgotten about.

For anyone starting a creative business, what is one thing you learned after launching that you didn’t expect before?
