Unspeakable Lies by Alyssa Hood
The prose gave me a headache all the way through. The descriptions of people, places and the narrators feelings were repetitive without giving any real depth of detail. The author failed to make one solid statement to move the plot forward, instead favoring similes and metaphors as though she had just discovered them. It read like someone trying to hit a word count rather than someone trying to tell a story. Speaking of the story - the plot developments were clunky and nonsensical and the “twists” were predictable and hollow. Barely finished it.
