Does fiction feel more real than actual reality for you?

I was just reading some fanfiction and then I paused to get some water and while I was walking down the hallway and back I had to keep reminding myself that this was the real world (not the fictional story I was reading). Everything felt so fake and not accurate, like I was in a movie or a dream or something. Everything just felt fake. Like the idea that someone could actually see and perceive me seemed so foreign and strange and unreal

I realize this was probably derealization, but it was still very weird to experience it and notice that I was experiencing it. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar?
