Is this normal to be this adamant in arranged marriage talks?
About me:
I'm 32, divorced, no kids and looking to marry again. The reason my previous marriage failed was because my ex tried to exploit me in all ways, mainly financially and emotionally. I underwent IVF due to his complete infertility and it failed. They blamed me for that. I tried to save the marriage but couldn't bear it and so left after 5 years. He got all financial info, investments and asset details of mine and my parents. Me being naive in initial days, told everything. Then he expected my parents to pay back his huge loans and things got ugly when that family said vile things about my character. I took the time to heal, went to therapy, learnt about my mistakes and mentally, I'm in a better place, thanks to God and my parents.
About him:
I'm now talking with a guy in AM process. He is mid 30s, divorced, no kids. He and his mom mentioned that he got divorced because the girl never respected him since she earned more than him, kept her finances to herself and invested in ways she saw it fit without disclosing anything to him. And looks like she was narc and abusive but I'm saying this only based on what he said. Anyways I'm not fully trusting his statement based on what he says alone.
Our financial patterns/behaviour and the differences:
This guy works in finance industry and so talks about most of the time. He is that type of guy who can't stay still when there is some money in the savings account. His exact words: "I get my salary on 25th and my expenses like rent start from 1st of next month. So I would think about how to make more money in those 5-6 days with that month's salary". My investment behaviour is not that rigorous. I invest 40% of my salary. My expenses are less coz I work from home and live with my parents in own house. But I don't worry much when liquid funds are lying untouched for couple of months until max 1 year. And another point: I earn more than him too.
The problem and my question:
Now this guy is very keen on partners sharing and showing the financial stuff. He keeps bringing the point that he was exploited by his ex wife. So he wants complete transparency from day 1.
I told him that my thoughts are similar too and building things together as a couple is important to me too. But trust is built over time and not on day 1 itself. But this guy keeps on telling the same again and again. Is it normal to be this adamant? Or am I wrong here?
TLDR:
Both of us are divorced and have financial trust issues from our previous marriages. The man I'm talking to in an arranged marriage wants complete financial transparency from day one because of his past, while I believe trust and sharing detailed financial information should happen gradually. Am I being reasonable, or is his expectation of immediate financial openness normal?
