When did walking become pain free post PAO?
So I got my PAO this May and am a little over 2 months post op. I started PT at the beginning of July, and lately, am just feeling very discouraged. Doing exercises and walking with crutches hurts pretty bad, and I can’t leave the house without bringing a wheelchair if I know I’ll be out for more than 20ish minutes. Despite all the preparation I did beforehand, nothing truly prepared me for what recovery would be like, it is so difficult😭 I am also feeling a lot of pressure to recover quick since I start my sophomore year of college August 24th. When I scheduled my surgery, I felt assured that I’d be good by then and be able to walk pain-free without a mobility aid, but honestly at this point this seems unrealistic. My campus is pretty big, and I have to walk far from my apartment to classes and I’ve been feeling anxious about whether or not I will be able to handle that, even if I have crutches.
If anyone has any insight on their timeline with walking post PAO I would love to hear that. This has been a pretty isolating experience, and I’d like to hear from those who get it.
Also, if anyone has any advice on handling college post PAO that would be fantastic because I’m getting very nervous about that.
