11 month old up for hour crying in the night

6 - 12 months

We are currently struggling with my 11 month olds sleep. He was usually sleeping until around 3am and I would do a feed and then he would sleep until around 5:30 (which we have accepted early morning wake).

Wake windows are 3.5/3.5/4. We cap day sleep at 2.5 hours. We have been night weaned for about 2 months aside from that early morning feed but I did recently feed him earlier in the night when he was sick and had a fever and would not settle. Since then he has woken in the night (around 12am) and will sit/stand in the crib and cry for over an hour. I have tried comforting, I have tried giving him water, he will not settle unless I feed him.

He goes down for naps almost immediately and I am usually having to wake him up from both naps to cap day sleep at 2.5 hours. He goes down at bedtime within minutes.

He may possibly be teething, if so, how do I treat this? Give him medicine and let him cry? I feel terrible but also have a very persistent baby that is resistant to soothing aside from feeding. I am looking to wean within the next month so really not looking to get back into night feeding.

I’ve tried capping naps at 2 hours and he is so grumpy leading up to bedtime. Wondering if this is all because I took him out of the crib and fed him the one time? Surely there has to be more to it?

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
