Where do service industry/casino/entertainment workers in Lake Tahoe actually live?

I feel like the average bartender, valet, line cook, server, casino employee, grocer, etc probably can’t afford to live near Lake Tahoe (I’m assuming it’s really expensive) so where do they? Are there affordable places near the area that I don’t know about, do they have to do long commutes from Reno or Carson City or something (my assumption)? Anybody know?
