Talk with parent went poorly
Aight so first my parents are quite accepting of the trans community as a whole. My older sibling is trans as well and they were supportive if not a little traumatized by their transition. Anyways today I had some alone time with my dad for the first time in a while and decided to bring up like “hey I’ve been considering that”. Presented as a very like “just questioning, don’t know, not like my sibling” way despite basically being out already to my friends yk.
Was honestly fully expecting a genuine conversation and support, but instead he freaked out, talked about how difficult my siblings transition was, seemed genuinely extremely concerned for me then worst of all immediately told all of my other parents and siblings (mom, step dad, step mom, step siblings). So now my mom who is always super awkward about these sorts of things and was actually traumatized by my siblings transition is freaking out like crazy, and my slightly transphobic step mom is already going down the “only woman can know what it’s like to be a woman” sorta pipeline. Like I genuinely wanted his advice and he just freaked out and basically contacted everyone and was like “HOLY SHIT NOT AGAIN” mind you my siblings transition went well but it was still difficult. Idk like he is supportive, but it more manifested as being genuinely scared for me than actually supportive yk and now im terrified of everyone and everything.
Thanks for reading my rant! I just needed to let this out somewhere 😭
