Help! Starving baby
Hi, im a first time hognose owner and I got my baby 5 weeks ago, 6 weeks now since her last feed. Im at my watts end trying to get her to eat and I just dont know what to do. Her color is looking sicker and shes just gotten visibly skinnier. And shes not nearly as active as she was when i first brought her home. Ive taken her to the vet once (we had a RI scare that was just bedding irritation) but she was given a clean bill of health though she refuses to eat. She seemed healthy before taking her home. A humidity of 25 to 30 degrees with temps ranging from 74 at night on the cool to 85 n the morning with her hot side being more like 87 to 92 depending on the time of day. Recently switched her to paper towel bedding for closer monitoring. But I did shred a tone to help her burrow/hide in pluse she has a tunnel. 2 hides and a toy in a 18×18x12.
Shes estimated to have been 8 months when i got her placing her around 10 months now. Breeders said she was reliably eating two pinkies every sunday before pick up. I dont know what to do.
Im honestly so worried for her health, I dont know if I can get a vet to force feed her- was going to call around tomorrow or even see if the breeder would take her back - not even for a refund but just to see if they can get her eating.
Any further tips on encouraging her to eat would be greatly appreciated.
Ive not handled her for 3 weeks hoping to avoid stressing her and only offered food once a week at her regular time as I hear offering to often could also stress her out.
If offered with Tongs and by placing rhe pinkie on a tray in her cage. The pinkies are the ones sold by the place I gor her
