Intense gaze. What does it mean..?

Whenever my boyfriend and I are intimate, he often looks at me with a very, very, intense gaze. At first, I thought he was checking in to make sure I was having fun. But the last time I was grinding on him, he was just staring at me with a straight face, not even making a sound or commenting.
He just stared at me.
This has also happened during sex. Maybe he doesn’t like making noises, but he does when I give him head or handjob, so it just leaves me puzzled.
And every time I ask him if he felt good afterward, he always says, “Yeah, of course it did, but was it good for you?” or “Anything will feel good if you touch me.” It’s thoughtful, but it also makes me wonder if he’s just being polite or if he’s not being completely honest.

It’s silly to type this out, but it’s made me feel self-conscious. Like I am a needy, horny muppet.
