AITAH for being petty and taking my Keurig home after getting rejected?
A little background: I worked at a job that I genuinely liked, but they wouldn’t accommodate my schedule, so I had to leave and find another job that would. When I resigned, everyone seemed genuinely happy for me. They told me I was rehireable and basically left the door open for me to come back someday.
Fast forward a few months. My new job isn’t great, but I’m sticking it out for now. I figured I’d pick up some part-time hours at my old job since they had told me I could come back. I reached out and got the runaround for a while. Eventually I saw they had an opening online, so I applied.
They declined my application.
Now here’s where I might be the asshole.
While I worked there, I brought my own Keurig from home because I’m a huge coffee drinker. Everyone at work ended up using it, and I left it there when I quit because I honestly thought I’d eventually be back and could use it again.
After getting rejected, I realized there was no reason for my personal Keurig to stay there. So I went in, grabbed my Keurig, left all of the coffee pods, and took everything home that belonged to me. I didn’t touch anything that belonged to the company, just my machine.
A couple people acted like I was being petty, but from my perspective, why would I leave my personal belongings at a place that doesn’t even want to rehire me?
So… AITAH?
