Do I Need A CCW To CC My Revolver?

hello all, i have a question that my be considered unintelligent or ignorant to you guys, but id like an answer. i own a s&w model 29 and am 26 years old, but i've never concealed carried before. i live in San Antonio, but am currently unable to get my CCW permit. i have heard that as of 2021, people can carry their guns permitless if they arent convicted of certain violent crimes. is this true? will i get in trouble if i conceal carry without a ccw?
