AIO IF I go no contact with my girlfriend after she confessed to cheating, even though I still have feelings for her?

Should I go no contact with my girlfriend after she confessed to cheating, even though I still have feelings for her?

Honestly, I never imagined I'd be the one posting something like this, but here I am.

My girlfriend and I were together for years. She was the person I saw myself building a future with. We’d talk about our lives together, make concrete plans, and I truly thought she was my forever.

Then, a few weeks ago, it all imploded.

She confessed to cheating. The gut punch wasn't just the act itself, but realizing she'd been acting completely normal the entire time. We were laughing, texting daily, planning things... all while she knew what she'd done and could still look me in the eye as if nothing was wrong.

She's apologized profusely, calling it a mistake and insisting she still loves me and wants a second chance. A part of me wants to believe her because, if I'm being completely honest, I still love her. That's the kicker. Those feelings don't just vanish because someone has deeply hurt you.

But then I think about how, every time I might start to trust her again, I'll be consumed by wondering where she is, who she's with, or if she's being truthful. I absolutely do not want to become that insecure, paranoid version of myself.

So, I ended it and blocked her. Some friends agree I'm doing the right thing, but others have pointed out that people make mistakes and that I'm tossing away years of our relationship over one awful choice.

Now I'm questioning myself because I miss her terribly every single day. It's agonizing to love someone and simultaneously know they're likely not good for me.

Am I overreacting by refusing to give her another chance, or is this one of those situations where walking away is the only way to preserve my own self-respect?
