What is it that Miyazaki gets about life that some of us just can’t figure out?

Question

That title might be a BIT dramatic… but hear me out lol.

I’ve dealt with a pretty bad phone addiction for many years now (sometimes having upwards of 15+ hours of screen time a day), and lately more than ever, my brain’s been moving at a million miles an hour.

But then I watched Princess Mononoke for the first time a few days ago, and it was the first two hours in months where I didn’t touch my phone, didn’t feel jittery, and just sat there taking in the moment fully entranced by every scene.

I remember feeling that same calming effect when I watched Whisper of the Heart last year too.

I can’t explain it, but Ghibli is in some weird way the cure to modern… whatever this brain hijacking nonsense is.

So genuinely… what is it? Pacing? The silence? Trying to figure out if I can build more of that into my day-to-day life or if it only works when I watch a Ghibli movie.
