Ancient Relic Recycler & Holy Water

Anybody know what the point is of putting Holy Water into the Ancient Relic Recycler? It doesn't seem to get consumed, more isn't generated, and near as I can tell it doesn't seem to improve drop rates from the Relics. What am I missing here?
