Cockroach Infestation building-wide in apartments

Landlord Tenant Housing

Location: FL

I’d like to start by saying I’m disgusted and traumatized. We have a terrible German roach infestation in our apartment, all throughout the cabinets in the kitchen, walking across the carpet in our living room, and crawling on my finger when I was typing on my keyboard. They’re everywhere. And we keep this place spotless

December we had them come out and they sent Massey(documented). Put glue traps and went on their day.

Till this day we’ve seen them here and there after the “treatment”, and every day it got worse and worse. I wrote a formal email to them saying this is absolutely unacceptable for there to be this many, sending pictures / videos via google doc.

They sent out Massey again but at this point we want out. We have 2 months left on our lease and already secured different housing.

We’ve talked to many neighbors and they’re experiencing the same issue, making me think this is a structural infestation in the whole building . I do not want to pay rent and if needed I’d like restitution for all the furniture / things I need to throw away.

What are my options here? Im currently itching while writing this, laying in bed in one of my last nights in this hell hole.

Do I get a lawyer? Do I threaten with getting news outlets involved? Im thinking about knocking on doors and asking everyone in this complex if they’re experiencing the same thing we are and bringing it to somebody of importance.

We just don’t know what to do anymore and can barely afford to move. Thank you Reddit strangers in advance for all the help. My girlfriend and I just can’t wait to start fresh(with no furniture) in our HOPEFULLY roach free new-build complex.

Thank you
