Question about CO2

So astrophage infected every nearby star, and it requires a star and a planet with CO2 to reproduce, so does that mean every star has a planet with CO2?

Does this seem realistic? I am not a astronomer so I literally don't know, but I would imagine there are some stars that wouldn't have that condition.

Grace even mentions this and says it would suck if they sent him out there and it happened to be a star with no such planet and he was just sent off to die.
