Just finished Game of Thrones for the first time and honestly… I loved it. I understand why people have problems with Season 8 because it definitely felt rushed, but I actually liked where most characters ended up. My favorite characters were Jon Snow, Tyrion, Varys, Ned Stark, and even Drogon because they represented the best parts of the show: honor, intelligence, loyalty, and power. Jon was my favorite because he was the definition of doing the right thing even when it destroyed him. I do think he deserved more after everything he sacrificed, but him ending beyond the Wall with Ghost honestly felt very fitting because he never wanted the throne. Tyrion and Varys were probably the two people who understood the game of power the best because they cared more about the realm than themselves. Daenerys was one of the most interesting characters because watching her go from an exiled girl to the Mother of Dragons was incredible, but seeing her burn King’s Landing showed how power and destiny can corrupt someone. Bran becoming king shocked me the most because I went from wondering what his purpose was to realizing why his knowledge made him the right choice. My biggest takeaway from the show is that the people who want power the most are usually the least fit to have it, while the people who never wanted it are often the ones who deserve it. Overall, Game of Thrones is a legendary show with some of the best characters and world-building I’ve ever seen. The ending wasn’t perfect and needed more time, but I think the characters mostly ended where they were meant to be.
