Second baby, third hip seat
... and I finally found the one that works for me.
STM here. When first was born, I used a Tushbaby almost every day from about 6 months until a little over a year old. I loved having a hip seat, but I always wished it came with a detachable carrier for those moments when I needed both hands free. So before baby #2 arrived, I somehow ended up buying three different hip seats😂 including the Ergobaby 2-in-1 and the Momcozy 2-in-1. A couple of months in, it turned out that the Ergobaby one just didn't work for me. The waist belt felt too narrow, and once my baby was sitting on it for more than a few minutes, I could really feel the pressure on my hips. While the wider waist belt of the Momcozy 2-in-1 is much more comfortable on me, it's a little lighter than my old Tushbaby, and I love that the carrier tucks into the front pocket when I'm only using the seat. I still think of it as a hip seat first, not a full-on carrier for long outings, but for daycare pickup, quick errands, or anytime I suddenly need two free hands, it's been exactly what I was looking for.
Anyone else here end up buying way more carriers or hip seats than they ever planned?
