Fantasy Book Author Introduction

Hi everyone,

So I'm new to reddit, and this is my first ever post. Sorry in advance if it is a bit lengthy. My name is Mike, and I am a fantasy author, who has self-published two books--Tales of Asterra and To Sow a Fallow. I want to introduce my books, which are both high fantasy, but I want to mostly focus on my second book, as I've been having a difficult time promoting it online: towards the end of this post, I also wanted to open up a discussion on best practices for self promotion.

To Sow a Fallow, is my second adventure set in the fantasy world of Asterra that I created. It is a young-adult fantasy fiction novel and was published at the end of 2024. The story follows the journey of John Hortensius, a young boy with a strong, adventurous spirit who seeks to sow his own grand tale in the fields of his youth. However, Aurora is a forgotten agrarian realm. Knights and adventurers have left to find glory elsewhere, leaving John's home town of Daeges Eage (Day's Eye) unprotected. So when crops begin to mysteriously die, creating hideous fallows that reek of dark magic, John and his friends who make up the Lucky Few Adventurers' Guild must track down the evil beings responsible for the dying fields and lands in their realm of Aurora.

Lastly, while I have been able to be somewhat successful with in person promotion and doing in person events at book stores and festivals, I am absolutely terrible with the online promotions. Can anyone share tips on what they have found to work? One of my biggest struggles is trying to get legitimate reviews for my books online, especially Amazon. I really don't know how to do this or where to turn? Any help is greatly appreciated.
