How to know if you had a successful date?

Relationship

Hi everyone,

I'm still pretty new to dating, so I wanted to ask for your perspective.

I recently had a second date that lasted around 4 hours. We spent the afternoon/evening together, talked a lot, laughed, walked around, and by the end we hugged goodbye. There's also a possibility that we'll have a third date.

Personally, I really enjoyed it, but it made me realize something: just because I had a good time doesn't necessarily mean the other person felt the same.

So I'm curious:

What are the signs that make you think a date was actually successful?
Is it based on how long it lasted?
How comfortable the conversation felt?
Body language?
The goodbye hug?
The fact that you're already talking about meeting again?
Or is there something more important than all of those?

I'm not asking whether my date was successful—I know no one here can know that. I'm more interested in hearing how people, especially those with more dating experience, usually judge whether a date genuinely went well.

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
