What happens if you use Phexxi while also using the birth control ring?

This problem doesn’t even apply to me, but I’ve read on multiple websites that you can’t use Phexxi gel while you are using a birth control ring. Nowhere do they explain why, though. What bad interaction between the two things happens if you do? Is it just less effective, or does it like degrade the ring or something?
