First epileptologist appointment, what to expect?

My fiance has epilepsy, he randomly had a TC 2 years ago at 27 years old and had around 10 TCs in 6 months. His neurologist got the TCs controlled with 3 medications but has referred him out since his focal seizures aren’t going away (around 30-40 a month). The wait time in our state was 12-18 months, so we’ve decided to go interstate via video Telehealth consults and can see someone in 2 weeks!!

What was your first appointment with an epileptologist like? Anything specific we should ask or remember? Any hopeful stories where you got answers to the origin of your epilepsy? Or they got the focal awares under control?

We are trying not to get our hopes up but some happy stories or advice would be amazing!
