Inspiron 3470 doesnt see nvme ssd

I was given this computer from my grandfather and I am trying to boot from a nvme ssd that I had laying around. The ssd does work and is from a laptop that I had. Question is, does it not support nvme or is there a bios update that needs to be performed? Bios does not see it and it keeps telling me in this pre-check that there's no hard drive.
