Differin

I’ve been on a long journey to find the best/effective skincare products for my skin type. At first i bought a bunch of skincare and used it all at once and it damaged my skin so i went back to square one. Now Im only using micellar water, dr.althea 365 cream, differin, and vaseline. I did notice a slight stinging on my cheeks so I stopped putting differin on my cheeks and solely on my forehead since that primarily where my acne break out is. But today while taking off my makeup with micellar water my cheeks were burning badly. I assume since im using an active ingredient but i dont get why my cheeks were burning if i dont put the differin on my cheeks. Does that happen to anyone else?
