AITA for making conversation with the mom of the guy my friend is talking to?
For a little context, the day prior this guy my friend is talking to join our friend group to hangout and I was really quiet that day. I didn't have much to say. Today, she asked me to go with her to hangout with this guy and his friend group and asked me to start conversations or at least not be quiet like I was yesterday. So, we get to his house and his friend group goes and does their own thing and it's just the four of us hanging out. His mom is starting conversations with me, asking me where I work, constantly complimenting me and calling me pretty, and asked what I wanted to do. I told her I like to make music and want to make a career out of it, in doing so, she then asked what kind of music I make and I tell her, I then also show her a few of my songs. Throughout the night we're just talking about the smallest of things, I thought nothing of it. I was making conversation like my friend asked me to; and I wasn't going to make conversation with the guy she's talking to because I didn't want to come off as making an impression on said guy. Anyways, we leave, and on the drive home she's really quiet as am I. I just assumed she was tired as she had been up since 5AM for her job. Halfway home, she says "Ok, I'm going to open my mouth and I want you to know I'm not mad at you. It just bothered me that you were bonding with the mom of the guy I'm talking to." I just told her that I meant nothing by it and that I am sorry. But I feel terrible, because I was making conversation like she had asked me to, and her mom was making conversation to me. I meant nothing by it, nor was I trying to bond with her. It was just small talk. I just don't know how to feel by it because I feel that if I was quiet she would have asked me if I was ok or why I was quiet.
