It took losing her for me to finally move forward in life.
For so long, I believed she was my support system. Looking back, I now realise she was the very thing holding me back. People gradually stopped reaching out. They stopped inviting me out, stopped checking in, and stopped wanting to be involved, not because of me, but because they feared the conflict, drama, or consequences that came with being around us. Their concern about what might happen became greater than their desire to maintain a friendship.
Now that chapter is over, everything is changing. Old friends are reaching out again. New opportunities are appearing that never existed before. Former business associates are encouraging me to stay the course, telling me that if I keep going, what I’m building will become something worthwhile for everyone involved.
Losing that relationship felt like a loss at the time, but I’m beginning to see it differently. It created space for growth. The gains are already outweighing the losses.
I will make it to the Gold Coast. I will build my own landscaping company, with the trucks, excavators, bobcats, dingoes, and everything needed to create something I’m proud of. Not because someone else will give it to me, but because I’ve committed to becoming the man capable of building it.
Sometimes, moving forward requires letting go of what no longer belongs in your life. I let go of the old so I could make room for the new.
So, thank you for staying away. It turned out to be the greatest gift you never intended to give me.
