3rd year BSc Eco, CAT in 4 months, 217 hours in, dad against MBA — completely lost, need honest advice
Hi everyone. Need some honest perspective because I’m genuinely stuck.
My situation:
3rd year BSc Economics (4 year degree) from TERI School of Advanced Studies, Delhi
Option 1: Leave after 4th year directly into corporate
Option 2: Stay for integrated 5th year MSc then figure out next steps
Dad won’t let me leave without completing MSc
Appearing for CAT this year, 4 months left
Current mock score: 43
Total prep hours: 217 😭
What I want: Corporate. Ideally abroad eventually. I know I thrive in structure and think I’d do well in consulting or finance. I took Eco thinking money and corporate, not research.
What dad wants: MSc first, then masters or research abroad. He’s against MBA saying BSc Eco syllabus already covers MBA content and what works for others won’t necessarily work for me.
My confusion:
Is he right that MBA after Eco is redundant?
Should I push for CAT seriously or is MSc → GMAT abroad the better route for corporate?
Anyone with BSc Eco background who went into corporate — what was your path?
Is 4 months enough to realistically move from 43 to 99+?
Not looking for validation, looking for honest experienced perspectives. 🙏
