What am I doing in Korea?

Friendships and Relationships

"Why am I even in Korea? What do I see in this country?"

These are questions I have been asking myself lately.

In all honesty, I feel extremely privileged to even be able to ask myself that. After all, this my dream.

Or is it?...

It's August 4th 2024, my birthday. I'm sitting on top of a hill in Tenerife.
Suddenly, a ray of inspiration pierces through my mind, delivering the boldest dream I had ever dared to dream.

I will move to Japan.

I spend all night researching the Business visa and dedicate the next year towards leveling up my company to the point where my success is no longer left to chance.
I book a one way ticket to Japan and rent out an apartment in Shibuya.

Then it happens. The Japanese government completely changes the Business visa rules, making it evident that new foreign companies are not wanted in the country.

I'm caught in the middle of this storm. My dream of living in Japan long-term is crushed in the blink of an eye.

I shed a tear and keep it pushing.

Where to? Korea. Why? Because unlike Japan, the Korean government actively endorses foreign companies looking to expand to Korea. I could actually get a Business visa here.

I go to a startup course and receive the OASIS certificate to apply for the visa. There is no way I don't get it in 2 countries in a row, right? Well actually, wrong. I couldn't get it in Korea either. Or should I say: yet. My main obstacle? I don't have a bachelors degree.

Looking back, I should have just continued college in 2022 and it would have all been good right now, right? Completely wrong.

Had I done that, my business would not even exist right now. My business is what brought me to this point. It is both the visionary and financial engine behind my relocation to Asia.

I believe everything is playing out exactly how it's supposed to.

It is easy to forget that only two years ago, I was sitting on a hill in Spain with a dream. Today, I'm in Asia living it. And for that, I will be forever grateful.
