As part of a long-running geopolitical thriller and slice-of-life AU I've been developing, I've redesigned the NERV logo and branding. In this setting, NERV is a legitimate UN paramilitary agency rather than a front for a secret conspiracy or cult, and operates in a world fractured into rival geopolitical blocs despite the constant threat of the Others (the AU equivalent of Angels).

Key changes:

* Safety red representing emergency response instead of the canonical blood red
* Digitized fig leaf motif representing NERV's mission to "map" and translate the chaotic biology of the Others into the scientific rigor of human bioengineering, replacing the original series' symbolism of original sin and forbidden knowledge; in the AU, the motif derives from an ancient fig tree at the Fuyutsuki family estate in Hakone, cutting of which were later transplanted to Kyoto University and its Fuyutsuki Annexe satellite campus in the future Tokyo-3
* Inter sans-serif typeface for a clean modern aesthetic
* Removed religious slogan due to the secular nature of NERV in this AU

Usage:

* The standalone logo (a) is for hardware stenciling, uniform Velcro patches, and small-scale component markers
* The logo and wordmark (b) serves as the primary livery for vehicles, such as the Security department’s QRF Komatsu LAVs and suborbital Evangelion carrier rockets
* The full agency logo (c) is found on facility entrances, official treaty letterheads, and public-facing diplomatic documentation

>The **UN Special Agency NERV** is a UN-mandated, multinational scientific research and paramilitary organization. Its primary mission is the study of non-terrestrial entities (NTEs) colloquially dubbed as “**Others**” and the development of **Evangelion** weapon systems to counter the existential threat posed by Other arrivals. Unlike the more secretive, occult-focused NERV of the original 1995 NGE canon, this iteration functions as a transparent, if highly specialized, branch of the United Nations subject to international oversight and commission.

NERV was officially founded on **2 August 2014** under the auspices of the **GEHIRN Council**. Initial signatory nations included Japan, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and Ukraine, alongside various other EU member states. However, the alliance was not universally welcomed; power blocs such as the Slavic Alignment, Sinic Unity, and the South American Sud-Defense Pact denounced NERV as a tool for Western and Japanese hegemony.

During its formative years, NERV conducted the bulk of its research and development (including the Spastic ballistic ammunition used in early infantry-scale Other engagements) at the **Kyoto University Fuyutsuki Annexe** in Hakone, Japan (the future Tokyo-3). While NERV handled the tactical and biological front, the GEHIRN Council managed funding and international policy, though it maintained its own independent research facilities in Berlin, Germany.

A fundamental ideological and political rift between inaugural NERV Director **Gendo Ikari** and GEHIRN Council Chairman **Lorenz Kihl** led to a global schism in April 2019. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and South Korea remained aligned with the original NERV agency under the reaffirmed leadership of Commander Ikari. Conversely, continental European nations reorganized the now-defunct GEHIRN into the rival **European Federation (EuroFed) Special Agency SEELE**, directed by Kihl. Since the schism, both agencies have been responsible for the defense of their respective territories while engaging in a persistent technological arms race centered on competing Evangelion weapon systems and institutional philosophies.
