I built a productivity app because I kept losing track of what I was supposed to be doing
hey guys,
so this started from a pretty dumb but real problem i kept having while working
i’d make a list of tasks
feel productive for like 5 minutes
then open linkedin or twitter “just for a sec”
and suddenly 40 mins gone and nothing actually done
the issue wasn’t planning
it was staying focused long enough to finish anything
so i built My Todo around one simple idea:
force myself to work in fixed time blocks and always see the time running out
this is how i use it:
- pick a task from the board
- set a 1 hour timer
- start working (no tab switching, no distractions)
- the timer stays floating on top of everything (picture-in-picture)
- so i always see the countdown
- when time ends, it bells, i stop, take a break, then pick the next task
the floating timer is the main thing
it’s just always there, counting down, kinda pressuring me to finish
it’s super simple but it actually changed how i work
also kept it very minimal on purpose:
- no signup
- no accounts
- everything stored locally
- free
right now i’m trying to figure out if this is just something that works for me
or if other people would actually use this daily
if you try it for like 2 mins, what would stop you from using it tomorrow?
feel free to roast everything
