Final-year MBBS student in Georgia → GP in UAE (EMREE & experience requirement)
Hi everyone,
I’m currently in my final semester of medical school in Georgia and I’m planning to work as a General Practitioner in the UAE after graduation.
I have a few questions and would really appreciate any guidance from people who have gone through this pathway:
If I clear the EMREE, will I still need to complete 2 years of post-internship clinical experience before I can obtain a GP license (DHA/DOH/EHS), or is there any way to reduce or waive this requirement?
Is there any pathway that allows fresh graduates or those with only internship experience to work as a GP in the UAE?
My father currently works in the UAE, and I previously lived there on a residence visa until 2020 before it was cancelled. Does having had a UAE residence visa or having an immediate family member working there provide any advantage during licensing, visa processing, or job applications?
I’d be grateful if anyone who has been through this process, especially fellow FMGs or graduates from Georgia, could share their experience. Thanks in advance!
