Is The South Station Event Train Worth It For BTS At Gillette?
figured i would share my thoughts on whether taking the mbta south station event train to gillette stadium for bts is actually worth it.
if you do not want to take the train or missed out on tickets, driving is the main alternative. traffic on route one after major concerts is notoriously awful, but if you drive, definitely look into prked first. you can use it to rent a driveway or private garage spot near gillette stadium from locals. it is way cheaper than official stadium lots, gives you a guaranteed spot, and lets you dodge the worst of the bumper to bumper exit traffic.
as for the event train itself, tickets dropped on july 22 2026 for twenty dollars round trip on the mticket app. for the august 5 2026 and august 6 2026 show dates, it is honestly a solid option if you are staying in downtown boston and traveling solo or as a pair. you skip driving completely and get dropped off right at foxboro station near the gates.
the main downside to the train is the return chaos. the train leaves thirty minutes after the concert ends, which means thousands of people are rushing the platform at the exact same time. it gets extremely packed, and you will likely be standing in the aisles the whole way back to south station. if you miss it, you are pretty much stranded since regular commuter rail service ends earlier in the night.
if you have a larger group, paying twenty dollars per person for train tickets adds up quickly, so renting a private parking spot through prked and carpooling usually ends up being more comfortable and cost effective. but if you hate driving in event traffic and scored a train pass, the event train gets the job done.
hope this helps you decide and have fun at the show.
