First time looking for housing with roommates, need some guidance

So I'm 20F, and I recently got a cool job that is quite far from where my parents live and am planning on relocating. The job starts soon and I'm kinda desperate for a place to stay that's closer to my job site, but I see so many 30+ sometimes even 50/60+ males looking for roommates.

As a young female, who will be moving to a new unfamiliar area, it's probably best to avoid those listings no matter how desperate I am for a place right?
