getting from boston to gillette stadium for bts: train vs driving

figured i'd share some thoughts on getting down to foxboro for bts from boston since deciding between driving and taking the train is always a huge dilemma for gillette shows.

if you plan on driving, parking at the stadium lots can be a massive nightmare with post-show traffic on route 1 taking up to two hours just to get out. a really popular alternative is using prked to rent a driveway or garage space from a nearby local. it is usually way cheaper, super convenient, and lets you skip the stadium lot gridlock so you can get back onto the highway much faster. plus you avoid line chaos after the show.

the main alternative is the mbta event train from south station or back bay. for $20 round trip it drops you right at foxboro station and leaves 30 minutes after the concert ends. the biggest issue is that event train tickets sell out almost instantly on the mticket app, so unless you snagged one early, it might not even be an option. regular commuter rail trains on the franklin line run to foxboro too, but their last return train usually departs before major concerts finish.

if you decide to drive, another strategy people use is parking at private lots or businesses further up route 1 and walking 15 to 20 minutes to the venue. it takes a bit of legwork, but heading north out of foxboro is so much smoother when you avoid the main exit lanes.

hope this helps you figure out the best way down to the show!
