When your boyfriend constantly gets approached.

We’re often told that we’re both attractive—individually and as a couple. As an interracial couple, we’d like to think race shouldn’t matter. That said, one of us definitely gets approached more often when we’re out because they happen to fit more people’s "type."

Occasionally, though, race does seem to become a factor. Every now and then, though, it does feel like race plays a part. There have been occasions where someone seems noticeably more confident or persistent, perhaps because they share the same racial background as my partner. It may not always be intentional, but it can sometimes come across as though our relationship is viewed differently because we're an interracial couple.

I'm secure in who I am and proud of my heritage, so it doesn't make me question my worth. Even so, it can be frustrating to navigate those situations. I'm curious whether other interracial couples have experienced something similar, and if so, how you handle it with confidence and grace.
