11 week old puppy growling/fussing when picked up for bathroom?

Behavior

I have an 11-week-old Rottweiler that I’m potty training, but our house is slightly elevated and has 5 stairs that lead out of the house. For the past week or two, I’ve been carrying her to use the bathroom, since I read puppies this young shouldn’t be using stairs because it’s hard on their growing joints.

I noticed that whenever I pick her up to put in her crate, the car, or bring her *outside* to use the bathroom, she does fine and accepts it. However, whenever I bring her *inside*, she throws a fit. She started doing this when I would start to enforce her naps, but she already grew out of the growling for naps. It just seems to be bathroom breaks. She doesn’t have an accident after I bring her inside, and the growling only happens half the time.

I spoke to a trainer, and she said it’s her way of complaining like a toddler, and that I need her to learn that it’s going to happen. The growling only happens for 3-4 seconds, then she stops as I continue holding her. I’ve been starting to give her kibble when I pick her up, since she seems too distracted by eating.

Could this be related to growing pains? Or is this something that she will learn how to stop doing?
