Is it bad for the engine to turn on the car then immediately dart off?

I notice that my friend and one of my neighbors do not bother to turn their car on, put on their seatbelt and just dart off immediately. Meanwhile, I turn my car on, put on my seatbelt and put on my GPS and radio before leaving my parking space.
