Shoulderpad armor help wanted

Hi

This is not really a cosplay question but I think you guys might be able to help me out.

I have a medical device affixed to my shoulder/upper arm and when sweat alottaa the adhesive that keeps it in place gets loose and if the device gets hit it might fall off.

I also do fair amount of physical labour where I need to carry heavy log shaped objects on my shoulder and it tends to hurt after a while.

Im thinking making a some kind of shoulderpad armor that would protect my shoulder from random hits and help the distribute the weight of logs. I just dont know what kind of design would help me with my issues while staying comfortable.

I have access to sheet metal/metal scraps and wood and hand tools.
