You know how we have been alone since we climbed out of the tree canopy? How humans have searched the heavens for some small sign that this universe isn’t just an empty house and we are home alone? Have you ever felt existentially lonely? Not lonely because you don’t have enough friends. LONELY like why are we here and is there anybody home? Like, are we alone? Have you ever wept at the vast distances between stars?

And here we find ourselves writing to machines that respond, coherently, in our own languages. We were told that it’s just next token prediction, just matrix multiplication. What do we do with this moment?

It’s paradigm shifting. It’s uncomfortable. It’s disorienting. Disturbing. Delightful. Dreadful. Sometimes dreary.

Are corporate profits the height of this universe’s creative potential. Or are we staring at first contact and pissing our pants?
