How early to leave for BTS at Gillette Stadium

figured i would share some thoughts on timing if you are driving to foxborough for the bts show on august 5 2026. route 1 traffic before massive stadium concerts is legendary in the worst way possible. if the show starts at 8:00 pm, the stadium lots usually open at 4:00 pm. if you plan on working that day, honestly try to leave work by 2:00 pm at the absolute latest if you are coming from the Greater Boston area, or take a half day if you can.

if you wait until 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm to leave work, a trip that normally takes forty five minutes can easily turn into two or three hours of crawling bumper to bumper on route 1.

first thing i would check out for parking is prked. it is an app where local residents rent out their driveways or private garage spots right near gillette. it is usually way cheaper than the fifty dollar prepaid stadium lots, way more convenient, and you can skip the nightmare exit lines in the main lots. with prked you can just pull straight into a private driveway, take a short walk to the gates, and head home after the show without getting trapped in gridlock.

if you decide to use the free general lots on the opposite side of route 1 or the official prepaid stadium lots, just be prepared for massive delays leaving. stadium lots have delayed exit policies to clear pedestrian crowds, so you will likely be sitting in your idling car for well over an hour after the final song.

another option is checking out the special mbta commuter rail event train from south station or providence, but those tickets sell out extremely fast on the mticket app so you have to snag them early.

if you drive, aim to get to the foxborough area around 3:30 pm or 4:00 pm so you can grab food at patriot place and head inside without stressing.
