I hate when people pretend as if monkey paw has an established way it works.
Every time monkey paw is discussed there is always people claiming it has some kind of established rules, like "the wish has to come in a realistic wish" or "the regret of the wish must come by how the wish is fulfilled" . People always say that it isn't just an evil genie (when it was literary stated in the fucking text that its basically just a genie) .
But to explain what I mean by we don't really know how it works. In the text we were given 1 rule ( you will regret using the monkey paw) . And 1 example of a wish(man wishing for money and it coming as compensation for death of his son) . And people somehow extrapolated this 1 example as the way it must work EVERY time, and will call you illiterate if you claim otherwise.
Like I don't even have an issue with people using the monkey paw in such a way, for example the monkey paw sub should actually work like that so it will be different from the genie sub. But it makes me Hella livid when people claim that it Is how monkey paw work, and call you illiterate idiot if you argue. Especially since it's clear some 99% of people saying that didn't bother with reading this 5-10 minutes long story before arguing.
