[New Player] Help with Tarkov please

Hi, I need some help.

I'm doing the quest where I have to kill 3 Scavs on Woods, but I'm having a strange problem.

I'm still new to both Woods and Tarkov, so I usually go into raids with cheap gear because I don't want to lose expensive equipment. However, whenever I do that, the Scavs seem much stronger. They spot me from very far away, kill me almost instantly, and even seem to push me as a group. They also survive shots that I expected would kill them.

I even tried bringing armor, but it didn't help—they still penetrated it and killed me quickly.

Is there any game mechanic that makes Scavs harder if you enter a raid with low-value gear? Or is this just how Woods works? I haven't had this issue on any other map.
