Possible Traffic Insurance Litigation Scam?

I collided with a car while en route to start Grab food delivery to city center, injured in the process.

However, after exchanging contacts with the driver, a Malay man approached me to help with the police report process and the insurance claims. Thinking he was a Good Samaritan, I followed his given advices. Even passed him my treatment receipts and such.

After finishing giving statements to the police station, I wasn't given a fine. The guy afterwards offered a law firm to represent me in my insurance claims. That night he came to me to sign some papers belonging to said firm, even recorded me signing them. I have a bad hunch in the process, but as I am unknowledgeable in such matters I proceeded nonetheless.

So is this a scamming practice? What should I do to if I want to back out? And in normal circumstances, does lawyer even involved in this matter?
