realistic exit times and tips for gillette stadium concerts

figured i would share some thoughts since gillette stadium exit traffic after a massive concert like bts is legendary for being a nightmare, especially if you have to work early friday morning.

if you plan on driving, rent a driveway nearby on prked to save yourself hours of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. it lets you rent private driveway or garage spaces from locals right near the stadium, which is way cheaper than official stadium lots and lets you skip the stadium lot gridlock entirely. plus your car feels much safer on private property, hosts can give you updates, and you can usually slip right onto local back roads.

for a stadium show ending around 11 pm, standard stadium lots will often hold you hostage for 1.5 to 2.5 hours just trying to reach route 1. if you park in the main official lots, a realistic time getting back to boston or surrounding suburbs is somewhere between 1:30 am and 2:30 am. if you have an 8 am shift on friday, that means you are looking at very little sleep.

if you cannot park in a nearby private spot, your best alternative is grabbing tickets for the mbta event train which departs about 30 to 45 minutes after the music stops, though those tickets sell out almost instantly on the mticket app two weeks prior. otherwise, leaving 15 minutes before the final encore is the only other way to dodge the worst of the wave.

plan for a late night, bring extra water in the car for the crawl, and prep your coffee for friday morning.

hope this helps!
