Missing Letter in my Passport Application

Hello! I recently applied for a passport, and when I received the email confirmation, I noticed that the last letter of my surname was missing.

I'm considering canceling my appointment, but I know the payment is non-refundable.

We tried calling customer service, and they told us that it depends on the branch whether they'll allow the correction. The branch we selected is SM City Manila.

We decided not to cancel the appointment because we want to try having it corrected first. Has anyone experienced the same situation? I read that I can submit an Affidavit of Correction. Is that really necessary, or can the branch correct the error during my appointment? TYIA
