Picking a Faction

Hey ya'll, I've been trying to settle into one faction for 40k. Typically in games I like to play tanky, durable characters that can put up a fight and hit hard instead of just being a pure bullet sponge. I also like a simple to execute battle plan rather than a bunch of moving parts.

Watching battle reports I think I would like an army that leans more towards shooting and objective control but can hold their own in melee as well.

Armies that caught my eye are the death guard, necrons, leagues of votann, t'au, and tyranids.
